Meet Richard Tripp

The journey to Ridgehaven in Las Vegas has been a “Tripp” down memory lane for this new home buyer.

For Richard Tripp, buying his brand new home this spring at Ridgehaven by Warmington Residential in Southwest Las Vegas really brought him full circle. The very first home he purchased with his wife, Peggy, in 1977, when the couple was in their 20’s, was a Warmington home in Tustin, CA, which he recalls vividly and with great enthusiasm.

“It was approximately April 2nd, 1977 that we moved into The Colony and I still remember our address on Regis Way!” he reminisced. “My son was born in that house, which was purchased in part using Reserve Oil and Gas stock given to me by my grandmother. In our late 20’s, Peggy and I were the ‘kids’ on the block as most of our neighbors back then were closer to my age now.”
The Tripps lived on Regis Way at The Colony for 13 years before trading up to a bigger home on a golf course with a nearly one acre homesite in Temecula, CA, where they lived for 24 years. An avid golfer (he says he’s a “frustrated duffer”) he’d always wanted to live near a golf course. He’d been a tennis player and tennis pro, but during these years worked as a commercial real estate broker and a Certified Financial Planner, while Peggy was a school teacher.

With their son, Steven, growing up, Richard and Peggy ultimately sold their big home and moved back to Orange County. During this time something else happened to Richard as his son went off to college leaving what he says was a big hole in his life. With his own mother’s prodding, Richard became a Big Brother and would spend the next 15 years mentoring a disadvantaged and disabled young man, and was ultimately named Orange County Big Brother of the Year and California Big Brother of the Year in 2013. His little brother, Julio, whom he met when he was just 7 years old, worked hard and received a scholarship and is graduating from college this year, becoming one of Richard’s proudest moments.

One of his saddest came in 2016 when he lost his wife of nearly 41 years to cancer. Before she left, she told Richard to follow his dream and go to Vegas. He’d always loved the desert, they’d traveled together to Las Vegas often and liked the excitement of the city, but Peggy did not like the summer heat. It took him about a year and a half before he decided to take Peggy’s advice.

Not knowing it was a Warmington-built neighborhood, Richard found his way to Ridgehaven. He knew he wanted to be in the Southwest; has a fondness for Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa, and as a golfer he very much enjoys Spanish Trails Country Club and plans to become a member. Plus, the 215 Beltway is super convenient, allowing him to get anywhere in the city within just minutes.

“I was standing in the sales office and I noticed a video playing and it said ‘Warmington’ and it was all about its long history and roots in the LA area. So I asked the sales representative, Christy Jordan, and she confirmed it was the same builder!” The two bonded over that and Richard shared his story and pictures of that first home on Regis Way and they both got a kick out of the unexpected twist. And it just so happened that Richard really liked the Laurel, Plan 2 at Ridgehaven and that the neighborhood was so close to Summerlin that he could enjoy all the perks with none of the added HOA costs and fees. He was sold and signed on the dotted line to purchase his second Warmington home 41 years after he’d purchased the first.

Richard says he really liked the Plan 2 with its defined living spaces that includes a great room that he uses as a traditional dining room. He liked the model home so much that he upgraded his home to include the same open stair system that leads to the loft. In his words, it’s very “dramatic and opens the space up, much like a custom home.”

After previously living in a Warmington home, he says he appreciates the workmanship, fine quality of the Warmington properties, and its professional employees. “My sales representative, Christy Jordan was top notch, and Quincy Redic, the construction superintendent was superb,” he said. “What quality individuals they are and great representatives for the company.” Richard also worked with Tiffany Antheaume at Warmington’s interior design firm of choice, Chateau Interiors & Design, who offered great insight as he worked to finalize his interior selections and upgrades. “I relied on Tiffany’s input so much since this was the first time I’d done this without Peggy.”

Today, Richard is tripping around his new hometown of Las Vegas where he’s been joined by his son and brother. While he says that Tustin, CA, will always be home, “I grew up there!” he’s loving his new Warmington home and life in exciting Las Vegas, Nevada! He thinks Vegas has come into its own and has turned into a thriving metropolitan city like Scottsdale or even Chicago. He returns to The OC regularly to see friends but when he arrived on a recent morning and was met with the region’s familiar “June gloom” he knew he’d made the right choice. “I thrive on warm weather…bright mornings, balmy evenings….” Welcome to Las Vegas, Mr. Tripp.

Meet the Scinta Family

There may be no business like show business for the Scinta family, but for Frank Scinta Jr. and his family, they’ve found there is no place like home at Ridgehaven by Warmington

In Las Vegas, when you hear the name Scinta you likely think of The Plaza Hotel & Casino in downtown. The Scintas, who just resigned a new two-year engagement contract at The Plaza have been wowing audiences in Las Vegas since 2000 with their old school lounge act that combines comedy and musical impersonations. Called a Vegas institution by many, theirs has become one of the town’s must-see shows. This family act has been going strong since its founding members who are siblings, started performing as kids in Buffalo, New York.

It is Frank Scinta Jr.’s dad – called the “soul of the Scintas” – who founded the group and has been its stalwart for years. So Frank Jr. knows show business! And while he traveled and was “on the road” all throughout his youth with his dad and supremely talented family members, Frank Jr. has never had a desire to perform on stage.

He’s a family man and a businessman, and he and his family are happy to enjoy the quieter side of Las Vegas, right outside of Summerlin in their brand new home at Ridgehaven by Warmington Residential in the southwest.

Frank Jr. moved to Las Vegas with his family in 2000 from Buffalo, New York, his hometown and one that he still misses, albeit less now since moving into his new home this past June with his wife, Dominique, and their two children, 6-year-old Frankie, and 2 and a half-year-old Charlee.

“My memories growing up in Buffalo are of neighborhoods, and friends and block parties,” said Frank Jr. “I feel so happy to have found that sense of community again for my own family here at Ridgehaven.”

He said that he really loves that about his new neighborhood. But when he and Dominique set out to find their perfect home, the number one goal was to find something large enough for a family, near good schools. They definitely wanted new, preferably in a small neighborhood where there was a chance to once again enjoy a close-knit setting.

When they discovered Ridgehaven, he said it all fell into place. They chose the Plan 3, the largest home with nearly 2,400 square feet of space, up to five bedrooms, and four bathrooms. Frank said the biggest selling point for Dominique was the very nice kitchen with tons of white cabinets and a huge center island. They both loved the location near Summerlin, the intimate community setting and how close they’d be to good schools.

Las Vegas has definitely become the new Scinta hometown. And while Buffalo, New York may always live in their hearts, Frank Jr. said that Las Vegas has proven it has got heart. They all finally feel at home, on and off the stage.

Warmington Residential has four new two-story, single family neighborhoods in the southwest. They are Ridgehaven, Westbury, Rockpointe and Vistaview. Starting prices begin from the low $300’s and range up to the high $300’s. Among these four neighborhoods, there is a selection of plans that range from approximately 1,590 to 3,386 square feet with three to seven bedrooms, up to five bathrooms and two- and three-space garages. Some are nearing closeout and will offer the highly upgraded model homes for sale in the coming weeks.

Klein family finds they fit right in at Desert Ridge

With four boys including a brand new baby, mom and dad and two dogs, the Klein’s hunt for the perfect home wasn’t exactly easy. They’d been renting locally in Mesquite since getting married four years earlier but they were ready to buy a home of their own. They knew they wanted to stay in Mesquite, where both Chad and Katie Klein are business owners, and their school-age children, Tristan (12), Aidan (10) and Braxton (8) were thriving in public schools in Mesquite. At the time, their youngest son, Caivan, was still a toddler and Chad and Katie knew they still wanted to grow their family.

Their hometown of Mesquite is a small city so the Kleins were familiar with Warmington’s Desert Ridge, a single-family home community that promotes a single-level lifestyle near the Oasis Golf Club. At the time, Desert Ridge had just debuted and when they visited, the fell in love with the model but that plan just didn’t have the square footage they really wanted. So, they waited and continued to look. When they ventured out they found that homes in other neighborhoods were too expensive or just not attractive. They looked at resale homes but really wanted a brand new home. They’d even considered a custom home since Chad is a residential home designer but the cost of the land deterred them.

Meanwhile, Desert Ridge had found its stride and the neighborhood now had many more homes built and new families had moved in and in Katie’s view, seemed to be “booming” so they went back for a second look.

This time, Katie knew the sales representative, Deb Parsley, who like Katie owns and operates a personal care business in Mesquite, and they developed a quick rapport. Deb took the Kleins under her wing and set about showing them a floorplan and location at Desert Ridge that she really knew would work for them. In her view, the Tempe, Plan 2X was a perfect fit for the Kleins. With nearly 2,500 square feet, an optional second level and the ability to incorporate up to five bedrooms and three full bathrooms, the flexible floorplan could easily accommodate the Kleins and their growing family. The Kleins almost agreed but Chad, with his eye toward custom homebuilding, wondered could the upstairs loft be split to include

two optional bedrooms, instead of just one? With Deb’s help he pitched this idea to Warmington who agreed to offer this second bedroom upstairs as an option. And the timing couldn’t have been better. That very same day, Chad and Katie found out they were expecting their fifth son!

“Suddenly our hunt for a new, bigger home that could accommodate our growing family became much more urgent!” said Katie as she recalled the excitement of that day. “As we finalized our home purchase, we were adamant that it had to be finished and ready for move-in in nine months. To our utter delight, our superintendent, Bob, had our brand new home complete and ready for us in six.” They closed in March and welcomed the new baby boy, Ronin, in May.
Today, the Kleins, the five boys and two dogs, Eevee and Chanel, are feeling right at home at Desert Ridge.
They’ve settled into their house and the upper level works perfectly for the two older boys who both have their own room plus a game room! Chad, who is a golfer who completes in the World Long Drive, is enjoying his proximity to the Oasis Golf Club and others throughout Mesquite. The dogs and the whole family are enjoying their newly designed backyard with views of the surrounding mountains, which Kleins customized to include a huge patio and firepit.

As the Kleins discovered, the homes at Desert Ridge and their location are perfect for those looking to enjoy a family-friendly, recreation-based and low maintenance lifestyle opportunity.

The four floor-plan styles range in size from approximately 1,502 to 2,455 square feet and include two bedrooms with the options for up to 5. All homes feature open-concept living with a great room, covered porches and/or patios, and a direct-access two-space garage.

Homes in the final phase are now selling from the low $200,000’s and the sales office and showcase home are open daily. Desert Ridge is located at 1332 Mariposa Way in Mesquite, NV. For more information, call (877) 930-5599. To see floorplans and a gallery of homes, visit
